In the face of mounting evidence – including an investigation - and the discovery of - – New York Congressman Anthony Weiner held a press conference today and admitted:

I lied. I did send lewd photos to multiple women online.

The scandal first erupted at the end of May, as a picture of Weiner’s covered crotch was found online, purported to be Tweeted to a 21-year old follower. Weiner immediately hired a lawyer, but also gave interviews in which he blamed the incident on a “prank.”

-But that defense became more untenable in the following days, resulting in today’s admission.

During the press conference, Weiner said:

• He never met any of the women in question. He’s exchanged sexually explicit photos with “at least six women.”
• He dodged a question about whether or not he had “phone sex” with them and simply said they were adults and all actions were “consensual.”
• He told his wife the truth this morning and she was “very disappointed.” She also said she loved him and wanted the couple to “pull through.”
• He never asked anyone to lie or orchestrated any kind of cover-up. His staff was unaware of his actions.
• He labeled his actions “a personal failure” and said “I did a regrettable thing and for that I apologize.”
• He will not resign.

Therefore, it makes sense that she’d wish to protect her empire and ask fiance Kris Humphries to sign a prenuptial agreement. Friends say that’s exactly what the couple is - of negotiating.

Humphries is coming off his best year as a professional basketball player (he averaged a double-double!), but it’s unlikely that any contract he signs as a free agent will trump the fortune Kardashian rakes in each year.

In response, TMZ - the legal papers Kelsey has filed in return, which state he has no hope that a settlement will be reached and – once an expert has completed an investigation of all involved – he wants the case to move to trial.

Scotty McCreery is off to a solid start at the latest American Idol champion.

A compilation of studio performances by the country crooner has been downloaded 23,000 since the season 10 finale, landing Scotty at number-12 on the Billboard chart.

How does this compare with other famous Idols?

Season 9 winner Lee DeWyze moved only moved 2,000 downloads in the same time frame, while Kris Allen settled at 10,000. His season’s runner-up, -, sold 16,000.

As for -? She also outperformed Kris and Lee with her digital set: it debuted at #42 on sales of 11,000.
